The method —

We believe in the power of community and collective movement.

Collective Move + Flow is Catherine Gignac’s signature movement method mixing beat-driven, cathartic, calisthenic cardio with vinyasa yoga.

Intended to shift our energy; to give you space to drop in to yourself; to get you out of your head and into your body; to confront yourself with honesty and openness; to prime your voice, your heart and your forcefield for energetic breakthrough; to pop off. It will look a little like the yoga you’re used to, except for when we shake things up a little... let's be real... a lot.

We create a space for you to —

Move. Breathe. Flow. Inhale. Sweat. Shake. Scream. Exhale. Draw in. Come out. Push harder. Breathe again. Sigh. Make space. Let shit go. Giggle. Heal. Be human.

How we got here —

For many of us, movement takes on many forms. It can be heart pumping, soul healing, deeply soothing and intensely challenging at all once. It can pull you in day-after-day and teach you things when you least expect and when you think there is nothing left to learn from it.

The power that movement has on the body and mind is amplified when merged with community. Movement, together. Of course. Breathing, sweating, laughing, screaming, hearts beating, arms failing, blood pumping. In unison. There is no virtual substitute for bringing people together to move, hold energetic space for each other, and support each other in our own humanness.
Catherine was seeking a yoga practice that ebbed and flowed with the music, that was fluid and strong, challenging and comforting, always teaching, never boring. She found that blending dynamic, intentional vinyasa with cathartic cardio achieved it all and then some. Now she’s coaching others to join her.
And that is how Collective Move + Flow came to be. You can currently find Collective Move + Flow in Pittsburgh on Thursday nights with Montana at YogaFlow Shadyside and monthly with Catherine at Wallingford Studio. See you on the mat.
